Mark is licensed in Securities and Investment Advising for Investment Advisory accounts along with Commission based accounts. Mark also helps clients with Real Estate planning and Mark holds a Life Insurance license with additional training in Annuities and Long Term Care. Mark has experience helping clients plan for and pursue long term goals through comprehensive written financial plans and the use of investment and insurance strategies to strive for those goals. Mark helps guide clients to develop their personal retirement and asset accumulation goals, work / life balance goals, asset protection goals, and many other comprehensive goals of each client.
Mark is now working as a LPL Financial Advisor and Wealth Strategist through LPL Financial, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). Mark started as a financial professional with Waddell and Reed Financial, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) in 2007 and worked with Waddell and Reed Financial until it was acquired by LPL Financial in 2021.
Following the fiduciary standard, Mark is obligated by law to act in the clients best interest as he helps manage client assets and money.
Professional Training and Professional Education:
Each year Mark does professional continuing education through the College of Financial Planning and Financial Industry trainings specific to certain products and strategies.
In 2009, Mark earned the professional designation of Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC) through the College of Financial Planning (now Kaplan). This training plus training from industry peers helped Mark gain experience working with Mutual Fund Strategies.
In 2007 Mark did extensive training through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) sponsored by Waddell and Reed and received Series 7 & Series 66 licenses. Mark passed his Series 7 exam and became licensed to sell all types of securities products except commodities and futures. Mark also passed his Series 66 exam and became licensed as an investment advisor representative and securities agent. Mark holds his Series 7 and Series 66 licenses through LPL Financial.
College Education:
Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Finance emphasis) through the University of Washington in 2005. Mark had previously studied Economics and Business at the University of Washington in 1989 to 1990 after receiving his Associate of Arts in Business Administration at Highline Community College in 1989.
Outside Interests:
Mark is an expert whitewater rafter with extensive experience on rivers in the states of WA, ID, OR, MT, AZ and the provinces of BC and AB who has been rowing boats down rivers each year since he started on the Cedar River as an adolescent.
Mark considers the Green River Gorge in WA State as his home river and has paddled kayaks and rowed rafts and catarafts down the Green River hundreds of times. The company name Green River Wealth Strategies is a reflection of Mark’s passion for the Green River.
Mark is a member of Washington Recreational River Runners (WRRR) and has served terms on the Board of Directors and as President. Through WRRR, Mark has been able to develop relationships with new and experienced whitewater boaters and has helped mentor many boaters on safe strategies to have fun and enjoy outdoor recreation on rivers in the Western US and Canada. Mark has also helped with the annual Green River Cleanup starting in the 1990s and continuing to the present.

Mark lives in Kent, WA and has lived in the Kent, WA and Renton, WA vicinity since the 1970’s. Mark is married, has 2 adult children, and has 3 energetic grandsons. Mark is part of a very large extended family.
